Member for South Barwon Darren Cheeseman was proud today to publicly release the renders of an exciting new building that will be part of the Grovedale West Primary School upgrade.

The Andrews Labor Government is proud to be investing $6.559 million into upgrading the school, which includes this exciting new building. Inside, students and staff will benefit from flexible and adaptable learning spaces, as well as new toilets, kitchen facilities and staff workspaces.

Outside, students will be able to explore new outdoor learning spaces and landscaping. “I look forward to following the progress of this project,” Darren said, “and I would like to thank Select Architects for their inspired designs.”

The Grovedale West Primary upgrade was funded in the 2020-2021 Victorian Budget, along with a $7.64 million commitment towards the Bellaire Primary School Upgrade. The Bellaire Primary Upgrade is about upgrading and modernising the school, including a new learning centre and the refurbishment of Block B and partial demolition of Block A, and I look forward to sharing more news as it becomes available.

In the past seven years, the Andrews Labor Government has invested more than $10.9 billion in building new schools and more than 1,700 school upgrades, creating around 13,500 jobs in construction and associated industries. It is now ahead of schedule in its commitment to open 100 new schools by 2026, with 62 new schools opening between 2019 and 2024.

The Labor Government is building the Education State to ensure that every student can access a great local school and get a quality education.

“We’re making sure that our schools have the best facilities, our classrooms have the best teachers and that every child is given every chance to succeed.”

“Grovedale families are a step closer to getting the great local school facilities their kids need to thrive. I am proud to be delivering this much-needed upgrade, and I look forward to the start of construction.”
