I’m Darren Cheeseman, and I’m your local Labor Member for the district of South Barwon and a Parliamentary Secretary for Education.

I have many years of experience working in government to deliver the infrastructure and services that this region needs, so that this region can remain a fantastic place to live, work and raise a family. Let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I live locally with my partner Rachel,  I am a father of two young boys, Isaac and Noah, and a greyhound named Barry. I’m a passionate Cats supporter, and a proud sponsor of local community sports clubs. I was born in Christchurch (don’t hold that against me!) but moved to Victoria as a child, where I attended Mount Clear Technical High School in Ballarat and then studied at the University of Ballarat. I have served as a Councillor for the City of Ballarat, worked for the Association for the Blind to raise funds in support of the vision impaired, and represented this area as the Federal Member for Corangamite until 2013.  I was proud to be elected in 2018 to represent the district of South Barwon, and I have spent the last few years working hard to deliver the many projects and commitments of the Allan Labor Government.
