The Andrews Labor Government is creating jobs and caring for the people of South Barwon.
Member for South Barwon Darren Cheeseman today was proud to announce that the Andrews Labor Government is delivering a brand-new school in Charlemont to service the rapidly growing communities in the Armstrong Creek Growth Corridor. Funding has been provided in the 2022-2023 Budget to secure land for this new school, which will go by the interim name of “Horseshoe Bend Primary School”.
This announcement follows a petition that Mr Cheeseman has been running over the past month, calling for a new school to be delivered in Charlemont to service this growing community.
The petition drew wide support from the local community with over 250 signatures, and Mr Cheeseman was glad to advocate for their needs to the Treasurer in the lead-up to the Budget. The petition can be found here: https://darrencheeseman.com.au/campaigns/new-primary-school-in-charlemont/
Across Victoria, the Labor Government is building the Education State to ensure every student can access a great local school and get a great education.
In the past seven years, the Victorian Government has invested more than $10.9 billion in building new schools and more than 1,700 school upgrades, creating around 13,500 jobs in construction and associated industries. It is now ahead of schedule in its commitment to open 100 new schools by 2026, with 62 new schools opening between 2019 and 2024.
With this Budget, we’re getting on with delivering for all Victorians.
